Pro Vice Chancellor
Prof. Surendra N. Rahamatkar is a distinguished academician and researcher with over 26 years of rich experience in institution building, academic administration, and strategic planning. His areas of expertise include global and national rankings, accreditations, research and development through sponsored projects and consultancies, PhD research supervision, and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also been actively involved in academic and research collaborations with industry and international organizations.
In recognition of his significant research contributions in the field of Wireless Sensor Networks and his dedicated efforts to promote technical education in the State of Goa, Prof. Rahamatkar was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Letters (Hon. D.Litt.) by the University of South America (USA). He was also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by REST Society for Research International on 28 September 2018.
He has filed and published over 35 intellectual property rights (IPRs) and authored more than 85 research papers, along with five international research books. The majority of his publications appear in reputed Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals, ISI-listed book chapters, and international conference proceedings.
Under his supervision, four research scholars have successfully completed their PhD degrees, and he has served as an examiner for more than five doctoral theses.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to global academic collaboration, Prof. Rahamatkar has been deputed as a Visiting Professor at the University of Multimedia Nusantara, Indonesia, where he contributed to interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, curriculum enrichment, and strategic academic initiatives. This international engagement reflects his dedication to fostering cross-cultural learning environments and strengthening institutional excellence through global partnerships.
Prof. Rahamatkar has also served as Project Director under the financial and technical assistance of UNICEF, providing technical support to the Mission Directorate, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Government of Chhattisgarh, for monitoring the implementation of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities in rural areas of the state.
He is a Mentor of Change for Atal Tinkering Labs under the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, Government of India. He has delivered numerous keynote addresses and guest lectures and has chaired sessions at various national and international conferences, workshops, and technical events.
He is a Fellow Member of the American Association for Science and Technology (USA) and holds memberships in several national and international professional bodies, including the International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT, Singapore), Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA, USA), Asia-Pacific Association for Computer-Assisted Language Learning (APACALL, Australia), Computer Society of India (CSI), and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), India.
Prof. Rahamatkar has also been actively engaged in industry–institute interaction initiatives, conducting collaborative training programmes with leading multinational companies such as Oracle, IBM, Infosys, TCS, Microsoft, and Google India. He has successfully organized several externally funded research activities, international conferences, faculty development programmes, technical workshops, and seminars.
He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal on Computer Science Engineering Trends (IJCSET) and as Editor of the Universal Journal for Technical Research & Science. He has also worked as Guest Editor for the International Journal of Sensors, Wireless Communications and Control for a special issue on time synchronization in wireless sensor networks and related research areas. Additionally, he is a member of the editorial and reviewer boards of several reputed international journals and serves as a reviewer and programme committee member for IEEE-sponsored and other international conferences in India and abroad.
In recognition of his contributions to knowledge dissemination and service to the technical community, his biography was published in Who’s Who in the World 2014, 31st Edition, by Marquis Who’s Who® Publications, USA. He is also a recipient of the “Virtual Guru” Award (2010). Currently, he is serving as the Pro Vice Chancellor of Avantika University.
