Essentially, liberal education incorporates breadth and depth across multiple disciplines. Typically, students have an option to select from a variety of courses in different disciplines and declare their dedicated course of study after exploring their interests.
What is the meant by interdisciplinary education?
Interdisciplinary education gives students the opportunity to break-free from traditional educational patterns and gives them the freedom to choose what they want to study. Education at Avantika gives students the much-needed opportunity to understand where their interest areas lie in the Foundation year and then choose if they want to study core disciplines or choose from other fields to make their own specialization.
Do students have to declare their specialization at the time of admission?
No, the selection takes place at the start of third semester after the completion of the mandatory Foundation course.
How viable is it to pursue two core specialization at the same time?
It is very much viable to pursue multiple specializations at the same time and the same can be realized by selecting the elective courses accordingly.For Example – A Product Design student can select all electives from User Experience Design to have dual specialization.
What is the process of course registration at Avantika?
Course registration is mandatory to be done at the start of every semester by the students which is facilitated by an online process. The students after duly completing the online course registration process, need to submit signed print-out of the form in the Student’s Office. Students who do not complete this process are not allowed to attend the class until course registration is done.

What is the learner to faculty ratio at Avantika?
The learner to faculty ratio at Avantika is 1:10.
What are the timings of classes in the University?
The regular time table is 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. However, the academic rigour expects the students to put in extra hours in studios, labs and workshops for completing their projects. The University will as such be open 24*7.
There will be times when the classes might be conducted beyond the stipulated hours or on holidays and
weekends especially by industry or foreign faculty.
Should students bring their own laptops?
Students must carry their own laptops to campus when they move in. Almost all courses require constant use of laptops in the form of preparation for assignments and exams.
Can students travel back home during weekends?
We strongly discourage students going back home on weekends but yes in genuine cases the same can be considered. It also depends on the work assignments of the students, usually students stay engaged in various activities inside the campus, and hence require time for such activities also.
Will the University’s academic timetable permit students to undergo training in a sport or extracurricular activity outside the campus?
The course is rigorous and undergoing training outside campus will be difficult for students.
How many hours of academic work does a student have to put-in in a week?
On an average, the students put in 30 hours of work per week. However, they are expected to put in equal number of hours for completing their assignments and projects.
If a student is not so good at a particular subject, how and how often can he approach a professor to work on his or skills in the area?
The students may approach their professors anytime, just by informing them on prior basis so that even the faculties may adjust their schedule accordingly.
Do students have the options to pursue extra-curricular and co-curricular activities?
Yes, the students are in fact encouraged to participate in activities apart from the Academics. There are various sports events and internal clubs that engage students in various activities of their interest.
Is the Avantika degree recognised by education institutions abroad?

The minimum graduation credit requirement is 160 credits.
What is the minimum attendance requirement?
Ideally 100% attendance is expected from the students. But to account for approved leave of absence (for instance, representing the University in State/ National/ International Competitions/ Events/ Conference etc.) and/ or other contingencies like medical emergencies, the attendance requirement shall be minimum 75%.
What is capstone project and how many can I take?
Capstone Project is the culmination of all the academic projects. It is a semester-long project which can be carried out either individually or in groups in Industry, Design Studios or in the university under the mentorship of a faculty. The project enables the student to synthesize all his learnings into a tangible outcome.

What are the primary academic expectations from the faculty?
In a very broad sense, to teach; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students of the various
courses provided by the university; develop an independent, externally funded research and consultancy
program; participate in all aspects of the school and university activities like outreach, extension, student
selection, faculty selection, academic infrastructure development, curriculum development, faculty
mentoring; and administration activities concerning the various schools.
The level of responsibility depends upon the cadre of the particular faculty member.
What is the application procedure for employment at Avantika?
Whenever there is a vacancy in the university, the same is flashed on
CAREERS tab of the website. Interested candidates may fill their information in the prescribed format and submit their application. Shortlisted candidates will receive the status of their application within 10-15 working days.
Why Liberal Education?
These are the generation of technology driven, I phones, iPads iPods, mobile phones, face book, twitter and unlimited exposure to social media. Parents are advisors but Google is an infinite information provider. What will be the pedagogical structure @ Avantika University?
The pedagogical structure of Avantika University is totally research and project based. We @ Avantika totally emphasize on experiential learning with ratio of 10% of theory and 90% of project based. Evaluation is also based on kind of project the students have done.
How is the credit hours calculated? And how many hours of academic work does a student needs to put in on an average day?
Avantika University follows European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) where 1 credit is equivalent to 25 hours. Avantika gives its students and faculty to design their own course. Hence, depending upon the subjects, the academic work per day might be 8 hours. However, in a month only one course subject will be implemented. Also the academic working is 5 days a week.

Young Designers League (YDL) is India's biggest student-level Design Challenge organized by MIT-ID Indore in association with Digital Impact Square - DISQ (A TCS Foundation Initiative) It is a design competition to encourage careers in design and motivate budding talent at the school/graduate level.

Students with creative and unique thinking abilities are considered to be the change drivers in this world.
So, all the students who can bring change to society and make this world a better place to live are welcome to participate in this challenge. This challenge will give you an opportunity to generate ideas (in the areas of a given theme) and these ideas will be working as a collection of solutions for the problems impacting society at large.
Most unique and significant ideas will be shortlisted by a distinguished jury.
Is there any registration fee for participation
There is NO registration fee for participation. It is totally free.
Can I participate Solo or in a Team
There are two categories where you can apply.
Contestants appearing for the 12th boards /12th passed out can appear INDIVIDUALLY.
Contestants already in the graduate and post-graduate levels can appear in teams consisting of a minimum of 2 or a maximum of 3 members.

The Design challenge will be conducted in two stages.
Stage 1 will be happening in online mode. Students will be submitting their creative ideas before the last date of submissions i.e. 10 October 2022. Students shortlisted by the jury will be informed by various (Email, SMS, and Website.) modes.
Stage 2 will be happening in MIT-ID, Indore Campus on 16th December 2022 followed by multiple exciting activities and an award ceremony.

Not at all, One can submit their Prototype in mediums comfortable to oneself, it may be write-ups, including visuals, drawings, illustrations, mock-ups, prototypes, videos, or any creative blend of all mentioned above.
Can I design for 2 themes
Unfortunately NO. Each contestant can work on a solution on only One Theme.

How my solution should look like
Based on your idea, you may create solutions and present your final outcome via any creative means. Like;
Your complete process of ideation, and final design solution (it may be write-ups, including visuals, drawings, illustrations, mock-ups, prototypes, videos, or any creative blend of all mentioned above.
You may use any material which is correct to represent your idea and readily available in your local market or even at home.
You may include images of your research on the problem area if you are going out to capture real-time issues in your presentation.
Take clear and high-quality pictures of your work, models/prototypes, etc.
You must write/type about your approach along with your sketches. (It is advised you type after scanning your work)
If you are writing the solution by hand, please ensure it is readable to the jury. (unclear entries will be rejected).
Create a stage-wise document in any of the software like PowerPoint or similar, but remember to convert your file into PDF format.

How to name my file
Name your file with your name followed by the registration number. Registration number you will be receiving once you register for the challenge. For example, if your name is Rahul Sharma and your registration ID is 100056 then save the file as Rahulsharma_100056
