Salil Sakhalkar is a distinguished alumnus of the Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Arts, with a specialization in Communication Design and Typography. He has conducted extensive research in calligraphy and typography at the Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay, under the mentorship of Prof. R. K. Joshi, and further honed his skills in symbol design and corporate identity under Prof. Yeshwant Chaudhary. Salil served as the Creative Director at Sixth Sense Corporate Communications, Bengaluru, and has built an illustrious career working with prestigious organizations such as Accion Fraterna Ecology Centre, Vicente Ferrer Rural Development Trust, Adarsh Group, Arghyam, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology, AXA Business Services, and Biome, among others. With over 25 years of experience in advertising and communication design across leading agencies in India and abroad, Salil has an impressive portfolio, having designed more than 1,200 print projects. His expertise spans Print Design, Corporate Identity, Book and Publication Design, Wayfinding, Typography, and Photography strategies. An experienced calligrapher and photographer, Salil has also shared his expertise through teaching Communication Design, Publication Design, Calligraphy, and Typography at Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore, as well as MIT Institute of Design. He has also conducted workshops on Calligraphy and Photography, with the use of natural light for enhanced creative expression.
