The Young Designers League is one of India's Premier National Design Competition that challenges students to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation, crafting ingenious solutions that address real-world problems.
Judged by a panel of renowned experts, each design is meticulously evaluated on the basis of originality, practical application, and execution. Exceptional work is rewarded with accolades, and students get the opportunity to collaborate on future national and international projects.

Eligibility: The competition is open to:

  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate design students
  • Enrolled in accredited Indian institutions
  • From any design discipline or interdisciplinary design program
  • Participants may compete individually or in teams of up to 3 members (same institution)

Theme: THE EVERYDAY REIMAGINED

This theme invites students to re-examine the familiar and uncover opportunities for meaningful improvement.

Participants must:

  • Observe everyday behaviours, needs, and pain-points
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies
  • Reimagine solutions that enhance daily living
  • Present clear, user-centred, and innovative outcomes

Your design may involve physical products, fashion, digital systems, spatial experiences, communication media, or new interactions emerging from blended disciplines.

Important Details

Categories

Participants must submit their project under one of the following five fields, each of which will have a Winner, Runner-up, and Second Runner-up:

Product & Mobility Design

Innovations in consumer products, tools, devices, mobility solutions, and everyday utilitarian objects.

Spatial & Furniture Design

Interior concepts, micro-spaces, installations, furniture design, and built-environment solutions.

Fashion, Textile & Lifestyle Design

Apparel, accessories, material exploration, lifestyle solutions, and personal experience enhancement.

Digital Experience Design (UX/UI)

User interfaces, digital products, apps, websites, service flows, and system interactions.

Visual & Transmedia Storytelling

Visual communication, branding, illustration, motion graphics, game design, animation, and narrative-based media.

Assesment Criteria

What to Submit

Participants must submit:

  • A PDF (A3/A4) OR Video (MP4)
  • Supporting visuals such as sketches, storyboards, models, prototypes, renders, or mock-ups
  • A structured presentation covering:
    • Problem statement
    • Background & user research
    • Key insights
    • Ideation process
    • Final concept
    • Materialisation / prototype (if applicable)
    • Outcome & rationale

Accepted Formats:

  • PDF (A3) – Max 10 MB
  • JPEG – Max 10 MB
  • MP4 – Max 30 MB

Submission Mode: Google Drive / Gmail link

Ensure that:

  • The file opens correctly
  • File naming conventions are followed
  • The submission does not exceed size limits

Originality & Authenticity

  • Submissions must be original work
  • Refined older projects may be submitted if aligned with the theme
  • AI-generated elements must be clearly disclosed
  • Copied or plagiarized work will be disqualified

Each submission must demonstrate brief research, ideation, and design development, highlighting how insights informed the final output.

  • Projects must strongly align with the theme “The Everyday Reimagined”
  • Irrelevant submissions may not be shortlisted
  • Projects must be respectful, safe, inclusive, and culturally sensitive
  • Participation allowed for individuals or teams of up to 3 members from the same institution
  • No late submissions or revisions will be accepted
  • The jury’s decision will be final and binding
  • Students retain full rights; the university may exhibit or publish the work with due credit
