Program Overview
Design research is a critical foundation that allows Practice-oriented disciplines like design to grow and remain pertinent only if the faculties or scholars continuously contribute to and expand this domain of knowledge. Our Doctor of Philosophy program in Design invites motivated faculties, design research practitioners as well as skilled professionals with a zeal for design — to dedicatedly engage with research activities and build some innovation into this flourishing domain of design. It urges scholarly designers to validate techniques, formalize theories and develop some novel methodology which they are working on from years within the scholarly framework. This program also encourages researchers to work in the fertile and innovative fields where design domain intersects with engineering, medical science, arts, and humanities. To pursue a PhD at Avantika University, your research specialization must be similar to our faculty’s areas of interest. Categories for admission
The applicants for admission to the PhD program shall be classified under any one of the following categories:
a. Full Time Research Scholar shall be working full time in the university and also may be in receipt of PhD Assistantship awarded by the university or an outside agency like DST/DBT/CSIR etc.
b. Sponsored Research Scholar shall be financed by the Government/Semi-Government Organizations or nominated by Government of India under a Exchange Scholarship Program for full-time engagement. Self-Financing foreign student/scholar or those admitted under an MoU may be admitted as full time scholars without Assistantship. All those who are working in the university/institutions/research organizations/industry and are spared/sponsored full-time by their parent organization, for doing the PhD work shall also come under the sponsored category. Such scholars will have to provide the required undertaking from their sponsoring organization.

Eligibility
- Master's degree in relevant discipline from an approved university/institution
- 1 at least 55% marks or
- 2 a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or
- 3 an equivalent grade 'B’ wherever grading system is followed or Professional degree declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with
- 1 at least 55% marks or
- 2 a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or
- 3 an equivalent grade 'B’ wherever grading system is followed
- 4 an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

An additional amount of rupees 10,000 is payable as a security deposit during admission. This amount shall be refundable on completion of the academic program.
The Hostel facility is available on first-come-first-served basis. Hostel and Mess facility is available on the campus at an additional cost. The hostel facility shall be Twin Non-AC accommodation. The mess facility shall include Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks and Dinner.
Loan
Students Loan facility will be available to the students securing admission to the university. Disbursement of the loan is as per the banks' terms and conditions.

Refund Policy
Avantika University will cancel an Admission only if the student fails to meet the Entry Requirements. The complete fees will be refunded within 15 days of cancellation of admission.
A student opting to withdraw his/her admission will be entitled to the refund of fees as detailed:

All legal disputes if any will be in the Ujjain Jurisdiction only.
