Avantika University felicitates S K Mohanty with Lifetime Achievement Award

S K Mohanty, India’s Most Prolific Multilingual Type Designer, was felicitated with Lifetime Achievement Award at Avantika University by Aksharshodh, Centre for Research in Indic Scripts.

Mr. Sachindra Kumar Mohanty was felicitated for his three decades of tapasya designing typefaces in more than 22 Indic scripts including many South Asian scripts. He was felicitated with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award trophy, Sanman Patra Scroll, Shawl, and Shriphal by Professor Emeritus Kirti Trivedi, Dr. Nitin Rane, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Manish Patil, Registrar, Professor Pramod Riswadkar, Dean - School of Design and Coordinator, Aksharshodh, Professor Hemant Kaushik, Member, Aksharshodh.

A permanent educational exhibition was set up to commemorate the works of Mr. Mohanty. Professor Pramod Riswadkar, Dean – School of Design initiated the event with a welcome speech. Professor Hemant Kaushik concluded the event with a vote of thanks.

Mr. Mohanty (popularly known as S.K.) is a key contributor to Indian Scripts, Digital Type Design, and Calligraphy. He has designed more than 150 digital typefaces, in low-resolution and high-resolution for various output devices such as Computers, Printers, Pagers and Mobile Phones for professional use in different Indic scripts. A recipient of the prestigious FIE Foundation National Awards in 1993, Mohanty’s contribution to Digital Type Design and Indian language technology development has opened up a plethora of opportunities for the IT Industry to reach multilingual and multi-ethnic masses.
