The Birds of Avantika Group (Khaga) organized an early morning birding expedition at Kishanpura Lake, Indore, on 8th July 2023. The expedition was organized by Kaustubh Kirtane, Assistant Professor at the School of Design with the assistance of an NGO group, WNC Indore, as they have been instrumental in identifying more than 200 species of birds at Kishanpura Lake.

The students saw many different species of birds and learned about their habitats during the expedition. Students also saw a tree laden with numerous nests of Baya Bird for the first time. The group spent the next few hours exploring the lakeshore, the surrounding area, and the moderate trek. The students also enjoyed learning about the different types of wetlands and ground-dwelling birds that live in the lake.

The birding expedition was a valuable educational experience for the students. It helped them to appreciate the beauty of nature and the importance of conservation. Avantika University is already working towards building a bird-friendly ecosystem on the campus by planting fruit-bearing trees on the campus and many more such initiatives.
