Believing the fact, Avantika University witnessed one of the most mesmerizing artists Hukum Koli, a renowned weaver of chanderi sarees, on 15th Jan 2021. The BDes Fashion students had an opportunity to interact and gain knowledge over hand-woven chanderi sarees. Hukum Koli with the faculty, Rupal Joshi educates 2nd-year fashion students about the manufacturing and detailing of the chanderi sarees.
Chanderi sarees are exquisitely hand-woven fabricated by mixing cotton and silk. It is weaved with intricate detailing by especially talented weavers. It takes nearly a week for two people to weave a single saree. It is a result of the hand-weaving traditional method that has been passed on from one generation to another. The Chanderi saree symbolizes a rich monarchy; reflecting the grandiose of an era.
