Industry Visit | Dainik Bhaskar Printing Press | 23rd March’18
The students of M.Des. Communication Design visited the Dainik Bhaskar printing press in Indore as part of their Publication Design course. The visit aimed at helping the students understand the printing processes and their constraints. Shachikant Birthriya (Production Head-DB Indore), mentored the students about pre and post-printing processes, throwing light on how these things work on the ground level and their technicalities. Further, processes like plate making on CTP machines for CMYK process was demonstrated. The learners witnessed the live- printing of the ‘Ah! Zindagi’ supplement of DB which gave a fairer view about how things work. Students also got a peep into other processes like procurement, production cycle, wastage processing, packaging, marketing, lead times, and distribution etc which gave them a 360° view about the publication industry.
