The course on Engineering Mathematics was led by Dr. Rakesh Dubey and Dr. Muthupandian Cheralathan with the aim to introduce basic mathematics and present its holistic view to the Foundation year students. The students learnt how to solve fundamental engineering problems and how these problems can be mathematically described and methodically analysed to find a solution. The Students learnt the basic concepts required to understand, construct, solve and interpret matrices, differential calculus, vector calculus and ordinary differential equations, and developed their skills to apply this knowledge of mathematics to solve real-world problems. By means of research and use of MATLAB to create and run simulations, the students prototyped a Projectile Launcher, Automobile Suspension System and a Roller Coaster to showcase their understanding of applied mathematics in solving real-world problems and challenges.
